Lenten Soup Supper

Here's something pretty cool. All Saints will be joining the Lutheran Church, Joy In Christ on Route 18 in Abington (adjacent Strawberry Valley Golf Course) for a Lenten Soup Supper and program. On Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm during the Lenten season each church will bring a pot of soup to share for dinner. This will be a gentle time to share a simple meal and for a time of fellowship and prayer with our friends at Joy In Christ. Speak to Rev. Patti if interested (call the office number listed above).

Bishop Bud Visits All Saints

Picture
On Sunday, Feb. 7th, All Saints had the priviledge of a a visit from Bishop Bud Cedarholm.  Bishop Bud met with new Parishioners before the 9:30 am service for light breakfast and a get-to-know-you. He celebrated with us for the morning service, giving the sermon. Before proceeding with the Peace, he sat with children of the Parish and taught them a simple song as he strummed along on guitar. This really was a very nice moment for everyone.

After coffee hour, Bishop Bud sat with the vestry and got to know us. We all shared with Bud the many blessings that All Saints gives us, as well as imparting to him many of our concerns. He and his aide, Ted, shared many available resources with us to help in our Parish life.

100 Years and Growing!

Picture
As Parishioners and visitors alike come up the stairs into the Hall, they are greeted with a vibrant banner celebrating our 100 year anniversary.  As our cornerstone marks the 1910 beginning of All Saints, this banner commemorates 100 years later. There have been many changes of course, in personnel and in the building itself. What started as a machine shop so long ago has indeed grown into a loving and nuturing Parish, thriving and vital, and residing with the love of Jesus. By His Grace, we look forward to All Saints hanging another banner in the year 2110!

Trivia Night was Lots of Fun!

Picture
The 2nd Annual Cabin Fever Trivia Night / Potluck Dinner was held Friday night, Feb. 5th from 5 ~ 6:30, kicking off the beginning of the fundraisers for 2010.

Our moderator for the evening was also our church historian, and indeed some of the questions from the All Saints History category benefitted from his vast knowledge in this area. The night was chock full of many challenges for the participants, with varied categories ranging from General Knowledge to Nautical, to New England History, as well as others. There were many obscure questions that left the crowd raising their eyebrows, betraying their confusion to such queries as "What does 'Father of Waters' mean?" (the answer being 'Mississippi River').  Cool prizes were awarded to the winners of each round.

The evening proved to be great fellowship and a lot of fun and food! Hope to see it catch on and fill up even more next year.

Cursillo Banners Moved to the Hall

Picture
We have moved all of the Cursillo Banners from the sanctuary to the Hall. All Saints is very active within the Cursillo Community, with many Rectors of previous weekends as part of the Parish. One benefit of this fact is that All Saints now has numerous beautiful 'Weekend Banners' to display. Previously the banners were hung within the Sanctuary, but it had become much too crowded. All banners were moved to the Hall with the exception of the most previous weekend past, which will remain in the Sanctuary for a few months.
